The Spring Dress You Need This Season: Smock Dress

I've probably found one of the cutest dresses this season and it’s under $200. What is it you ask? —— A “Smock Dress”.

I know your eyebrows are raised so let’s define what this dress trend really is!

A smock dress originated back in Europe during the 12th and 13th centuries. Smock literally means fabric that is taken and shaped into an accordion-like fashion. This is as simple of a definition as I’m going to give lol!

One thing about me, I love unique silhouettes because they are fun to style. Smock dresses can either be long or short but most times they have a “voluminous” aspect to them— and usually, it’s the sleeves!

This gorgeous dress from Anthropologie is a great example of a voluminous dress. Details are such an important factor to me when buying my pieces and I love things that require minimal effort to style. You can find this style in other materials such as organza as well.

I know this style isn’t for everyone, and that’s okay! However, if you’re wanting to explore this trend I definitely wrote this blog to give you my stamp of approval.

Here are a few styles of the smock trend that I found on Pinterest:

One thing I love about this trend is that there is no wrong or right way to style it. You can make it your own! I styled this one with some lugg sole boots and a minimal crossbody bag I bought from Burberry.
