3 Style Tips on How to Rock Monochrome Look
Summer is officially here - I'm definitely not a fan of the hot weather, but I am here for the fashion, the bold prints, and bright colors!
I feel like I'm just now getting out of my black and neutral funk from the Fall/Winter because Spring was definitely playing with our minds this year. Maybe, you're like me and you're not into loud prints that much but you still love making a statement when it comes to your personal style - then you've come to the right blog post.
Monochrome trends have been my top favorite ways to make a statement, but the warmer weather call for bolder colors.
So let's get into today's blog!
WHAT IS A MONOCHROMATIC OUTFIT?
So let's define this trend! A monochromatic outfit is a look made up of one color or shades of the same color - THAT'S IT (Literally).
Here are 3 Tips for wearing Monochrome this season!
PICK A COLOR FAMILY
I know this sounds like the easiest thing to do, but you'd be shocked at how difficult this is for some people. I give my clients a style tip for this is simple: Go with pastel colors if you want to be subtle or go with neon tones if you want something bolder.
For this look, I chose a fuchsia pink top (sold out) and some pink shorts that were a tad bit lighter. Think of it as a foundation and concealer-type combo. A dark-on-light shade in the same color family is a great way to style monochrome.
2. SHY AWAY FROM MATCHING ACCESSORIES
I know some of my fashion girlies might come for me about this, but respectfully - I wouldn't say I like when accessories match my outfit. When it comes to monochrome looks, you want to make sure that it's just you and the actual company that stands out. Everything else should be optional.
So, with my pink-on-pink ensemble, I chose to break the bright pink look by choosing a blue bag that was patterned and not in the same color family. Since the outfit I was wearing was solid pinks - the bag helped to tone things down. For shoes I went with iridescent heeled sandals - it was the perfect "neutral" to go with this bright pink look.
3. DO NOT OVERTHINK IT
Monochrome looks are very simple and if you follow the first two steps you've pretty much nailed how to style this trend. When it comes to personal style it's all about your expression, not the fashion industry's version of how you should look. For some people, monochrome maybe texture patterns, and for others, it may be denim on denim combination. Either way, you are free to express this trend to your liking!
These are my 3 very simple tips on how you can style a monochrome look. I wasn't going to write a book because I think fashion shouldn't be complicated *winky face*. Let me know if these tips were helpful to you and if you loved this blog be sure to share.
